Thermokinesis was the elemental power to raise and control the temperature of the air molecules of the surrounding area to varying degrees without the presence of liquid water.

Description[]

Thermokinesis was the ability to raise the temperature of the air molecules around oneself without the presence of liquid water. It's the most volatile and dangerous of all three original powers, as well as one of the most dangerous powers a merperson possess. When activated, this power will make the air molecules of the surrounding area to increase in temperature and causing an amount of heat to be released.

Throughout the series, it was shown that this power could easily get out of control. A Full Moon could cause this power to spin out of control, causing everything a merperson touched to instantly dehydrate and ignite, demonstrating some aspect of Pyrokinesis.[1] A sick merperson could also develop this power while sick, causing them to sneeze streams of fire, but they were unable to control it, though, and the ability was presumably gone after they were cured.[2]

This power also can be summoned by a mermaid with a Moon Ring.

Channeling[]

This power could be channeled through the use of one's hands. The hand gesture for this power was a closing/closed fist which might symbolize pressure, tension and the amount of heat needed to boil water. However, not all mermaids and mermen activated this power in this way, each of them possessed a unique way of activating it.

Trivia[]

  • It was unknown if a merperson with this power could amplify their hydro-thermokinetic power to a full-fledged Thermokinesis, just like a merperson's hydro-cryokinetic power to a full-fledged Cryokinesis, allowing hydro-thermokinetic merperson to be able to raise the temperature in the air around themselves without the presence of water or liquids in general.
