The Crystals were a special and rare type of gemstone that were found inside the rock structure of Moon Caves, a special type of caves across the Earth where Moon Pools were located. Will Benjamin tied the crystals from Mako Island's Moon Pool into strings and gave them to Rikki and Cleo, as Bella had created her own from the Irish Moon Pool before her arrival.
Also, the crystals create a magnetic pull between each other and the Comet Eva that regularly pulls it to the Earth.
History[]
In Season 3, Isabella Hartley moved to the coast when Emma Gilbert left to go travel the world with her family. In the previous seasons, the three mermaids: Emma, Cleo and Rikki wore lockets to help them remember how special they were. After Emma left, the new trio replaced the lockets with crystal pendants, with stones found inside the caves of the walls of the Moon Pool. When in contact with each other, these crystals generate immense energy to cause power outages of a city, and a blue light that mesmerizes the girls in the same way as the Full Moon.
Trivia[]
- As of Mako: Island of Secrets, Rikki no longer wears neither her locket or crystal necklace, possibly due to her disconnection with both Cleo and Bella. It is unknown if they still wear their own.
- It was unknown what type of gemstone the crystals were.
